after staring on antidepressant i've gained weight, and I wonder if it's one of the side effects.. I miss to wear some of my clothes.
if you used SSRI / antidepressant, did you lose weight when you quit using it later?

i lost weight while i was on it. i'm on 200mg zoloft and i lost 5kgs in 2 months while i was adjusting. now i've been around the 47-50kg mark for 2 years and that's it.

i think it also comes down to diet and how you use food - mentally.

yes, weight gain is a common side effect.

I was on SSRIs for 4 years and antipsychotics (these were definitely worse for weight gain) for 3 years and I gained a LOT of weight. i went from a normal weight to obese, but it only took me a year to lose the weight I gained after i quit them. I didn't work out or anything and it wasn't hard to lose the weight, i kind of think of it as my body just naturally sorting itself out.

anyway if the weight gain becomes a problem, you could ask to try different types. prozac (fontex in norway) is supposedly weight neutral and it also helps to be aware of the side effects to counteract them. psychiatric meds tend to increase your apetite and cravings, but it's easier to resist if you know it's an artificial feeling if that makes sense.

yeah when i was on another ssri, i did gain weight because i never felt full, i then had some other issues and was taken off it but zoloft never gave me those side effects. i have had none on that medication. now i don't get hungry very often, so i have to snack a lot and keep to meal times, otherwise i get too close to the 45kg mark and then i've been told i'll taken to the psych ward lol.

yeah, the never feeling full is the feeling i had too.

different people respond differently to different meds (god what a sentence lmao) so i think you, mosspiglet just have to try a few different ones and see what works best. one SSRI can be great with few side effects for some but life ruining for others.

Are u sure ur appetite havent increased? From what ive been told SSRI tends to either cause a bigger appetite or loss of apetite and thats what effects the weight but if u know for sure u havent changed ur food intake then my guess would be that its mostly water weight/bloating. If its just water weight or bloating then u will most likely lose that excess weight once ur body has gotten used to the meds

alcohol has a lot of calories and also you should be extra careful drinking when you're on SSRIs.

i agree it's a bit much, so i think you should talk to your doctor about maybe trying a different one. at least once you do find a better fit, or when you're done with SSRIs the weight won't be hard to lose so maybe that helps.
