I really want to start taking care of my skin, but i don't know where to start. I know next to nothing about skin care, and what does what, so i'd really appreciate it if someone could recommend some products to try!

I would say i have pretty oily skin, and a ton of pores lol

Idk either honestly. But I've been using the cleanser and moisturizer from Cerave for 6(?) months now. Doesn't seem to make much of a difference but my makeup has been looking better/lasting longer after I started moisturizing. I have the same skin type as you so I'll join you here to wait for the skin care experts of vp

I found out best by just testing around after watching some videos on YT and asking for advice in the store.
Can't really give you product recommendations to try out though, because we have a different skin type, just try to work your way up. Start with a cleanser and a moisturizer, keep that up for over a month and see how and what changes. From there you can work your way around.

natural is a super stupi term in skin care though
(in most areas actually, but especially in skin care where most allergies are to "natural" ingredients)

i use make up sometimes but not that often
so the very basics of a skincare routine would b
1. make-up remover (if ur wearing make-up obv) (all i will say abt this is PLZ dont use make up wipes ever n try to stick to a micellar water or something plz plz)
2. cleanser
3. moisturiser

once u have that figured out then u can begin to add other things (like treatments etc). i cant rly give recommendations bcuz my skin is like the opposite of urs but a good place to start is w brands like cerave, cetaphil etc because u dont have to really worry about ur skin reacting to anything. unfortunately it is a lot of trial and error to begin with because u just dont know what will/wont work for u. id suggest googling like 'cleansers for oily skin' , 'moisturisers for oily skin', reddit has a lot of good recommendations tbh n then just trying out something within ur price range n finding what works to get the basics down . THEN u can add things that will specifically treat problems u r having e.g. niacinamide sounds like it would probably help w ur pores. ramble ramble ramble idk if im bein helpful

I have a friend that studies medicine and she told me that "natural" that people are commercializing is not what you need. Cosmetic have things inside that you already have in your body and that is what natural actually is.
I don't know how to word this correctly.
And I am not talking about all of cosmetics but some oils and serums that are popular because they are "natural" are a total scam.

omg YOU ARE RIGHT! I said this because I don't have any problem with natural ingredients... but that's 100% true. not every natural cosmetics can be good to your skin.

exactly this
it's feeding into people's fear of "chemicals", completely neglecting to teach people about what chemical actually means and that chemical doesn't mean toxic like many think it is
like, natural to the skin does not mean "can be found in nature", which most people link to natural (regardless whether it's about the scammy products or not)
