on using kilo-joule and not kilo-calories, "uwuw kilo-calories is an old measurement thing but its still in some use" nobody fucking uses joule wtf
Account deleted

you really wanna start messing with these numbers?

4184

The SI unit of energy is the joule, with symbol "J": one calorie (small) is defined as exactly 4.184 J; one kilocalorie (large) is 4184 J.

1 kcal is abt 4.2kj but honestly, makes no sense n ive never seen anyone use it before

because it's the scientific approach
it's the unit science agreed upon using for energy

What is the thing where they use it? Do the book you you to calculate days foods as joules or do you use it something else?

some questions but mostly they write both units like they do on food labeling here from before so thats good

everyone in science does
I mean ... that's like being "ohhh, no one uses a torque wrench"
false, you don't but mechanics do on the regular

they use kcal because it's the smaller unit. You'd have more deciamal numbers for the kjul and that would confuse too many people (like anyone even knows what kcal truly is anyways...)

I mean I think we just use it cus nobody understands the other one but anyways

you do realise that they both originate from roughly the same time
we would know joules as well as calories if we started to use that one instead
it's not that calories is more intuitive, it's like meters and feet/miles. both are correct and both indicate the same thing, but some use one unit of measurement, others the other and none is wrong to use
like, I don't get why you obsess about it so much, it literally does not matter at all in the least
