for some reason, the U.S. election thingy on the biggest norwegian news site includes 2 facts about each state, and some of them i find either funny or cool. most of them are laws that are just ridiculous, but i respect them.
i wont list them all, but here are some of the best ones imo:
Alaska: its illegal (by law) to whisper someone in the ear when on elk-huntingÂ
Arkansas: in the city Fayetteville its illegal to lead a cow in the main street after 1 PM on sundays.Â
California: In the city Blythe, its illegal to wear cowboy boots unless you own at least 2 cows
Colorado: (this one i knew already, but i jsut love it) the teddybear was invented in Colorado, as a gift for president Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt when he visited the state. Hence the name "teddybear"
Florida: its illegal (by law) to sell your kids....... i honestly thought this was illegal everywhere, but maybe not?
Georgia: in the city Gainsville, who calls themselves the world chicken-capitol, its illegal (by law) to eat chicken with a fork
Hawaii: You can send a coconut by mail without wrapping it.
Illinois:Â in Mount Pulaski its illegal (only for boys), to throw snowballs on trees.
Michigan: Its illegal (by law) to sell or buy cars on sundays
Missouri: Bathtubs with legs that look like animal legs are illegal
Montana: Its illegal for married women to fish alone on sundays, and illegal for unmarried women to fish at all
Nebraska: In the city Waterloo its illegal for hairdressers to eat onion between 7 AM and 7 PM. i get this one tho.
New Mexico: Its illegal (by law) for women to appear in public unshaved.Â
Oregon: Its illegal (by law) to use canned corn as bait when fishing
Washington: In the city Everett, its illegal to have a hypnotized person on display in shop windows...... what.
id like to add that ive used an online newspaper as source. i assume they are true, since its such a big news paper here. dont come at me if they are false.
