tried to read up on it, but im not fully understanding it.

im trying to stay away from palm oil products.. but i noticed some cookies i like (havent bought them in a long time, but saw someone selling them) are listed with "segregated certified sustainable palm oil"... does that mean i can eat them? or doesnt it matter anything and i still shouldnt eat them?

i don't personally buy anything that contains palm oil, not even "sustainable palm oil". some claims it's green washing, but i don't know. but choose to avoid it anyway, because palm oil not so healthy
there's nothing good about palm oil other it's cheap for companies to use oh my
but like? i don't know. do your research about it and make your own choises. and it's not like world is going to burn if you buy products with it once in a while

Palm oil is primarily unsustainable due to its deforestation practices and monoculture. You should look into the certification itself and see which requirements they have to be obtained and what you can learn about where it is sourced and how. There are many certifications out there that are very half-hearted in terms of currently real-action on an issue, like BCI.

I went through their page and they seem pretty legit. I didn't get much on the exact farming practices, but they do have criteria covering labor rights and do have many initiatives covering sustainable practices, including staying away from forest areas that have high carbon storage and conservation value. They also have their own learning platform all about their practices that you literally can join. Otherwise, it seems to provide transparency in the first place as the supply chain of palm oil is extensive.

What I'd like to learn is if they use regenerative practices or if it is monoculture. Since they cover 18% of 2014's palm oil production it does make quite a big impact. I would also have liked to see more about practices in the different production places - low-scale or bigger. The potential of modern slavery is always an issue, of course, and one that can be really hard to discover if it exploits people in poverty and they don't have (uncorrupted) people to secure this in place every day on the different farms (they seem to renew the certification every 5 years.) The latter is just speculation since literally no global supply chain is without it (think sugar, cocoa, cotton.)

oh, well.. idk. i often tend to use arguments for taste, like, if something taste good, but isnt fx sustainable, but a substitute taste somewhat the same, btu is sustainable, then that is equally good in my eyes.

and ive often enjoyed "more healthy" things more than the original. ive yet to find a sugar-free soda where the original is better. Fanta, Solo, Cola, Sprite, 7Up, Villa etc. All of them are honestly better without sugar...

I think some sodas, especially campaign (villa) and the blank ones (sprite nad 7Up) works without sugar, but I have no preference there since I barely drink them. However, Fanta without sugar is terrible, and to drink Coke without sugar is horrifying. (and Pepsi should not be consumed at all.)

But yeah since taste is subjective it will always be a "this suited\worked for me-" argument and maybe something to persuade other people to try it by when you put in a good word for it. Fx. I found the eggs without palm oil to be really dry compared to the ones with. I can't say I'm sure they even were the same brand because it's a while ago and I obvi. only eat it during easter. so ye, like to have like 1 cartoon of palm oil eggs during easter is fair enough imo, like in general. it's much more effective to hit out on items you eat regularly that contain it.

at least we agree on some things cx pepsi is just flat coke with new bubbles... but i honestly love both fanta and cola better without sugar. it brings out the flavor more, i think?

(for a second i thought u ment like, EGGS. like chicken eggs. without palm oil cx)
yeh. i think as long as u at least think about what u put into ur body, and are aware what ur products contain, its ok to do so once in a while. i dont have a big attachment to the Freia easter eggs. theyre just chocolate with white chocolate on the inside. its just like how julebrus is honestly just rasbetty soda, and the "perle & bruse" red soda is basically julebrus without the logo....
