thoughts on 'older' parents

like  idk   35+ ?

Yesterday I had an argument with my mum about that, bc i said that I think it's kinda selfish to have kids when ur 35+ n especially when ur 40+ (my mom had me at 35 n my dad was 40 when i was born)
My mom got cancer when I was 10 nd my dad's always had a lot of health issues + takes rlly bad care of himself in general so I jsut generally always have this feeling like my parents might not have much time left and I'm 20 now.
I said I often worry about them dying n stuff, and like that it feels like I should rush certain 'milestones' so my parents can still be there n stuff u know?
But my mom said that's bullshit bc young people die too, but idk man fvbhdbvjhd
Mb it's also bc my dad threathens a lot  that he feels like he doesn't have much time left and stuff

so now i wanna know other people's opinions ig lol

if you can provide a child with a good and loving home at 35+ i see no issues with it

nah man i dont think so

idk do you also think you shouldn't have children then of you have health conditions that appear at a younger age in your family?

Na i dont think it's selfish, it's none of my business and not my body. My dad was 48 when I was born, and i'm okay with that, he's 72 y/o now.

I dont rly see anything wrong with it tbh. I dont think 35 counts as an ”old parent” either like usually u gotta be like 40+ to be considered an old parent. I understand ur worries tho

my mom had me when she was 34, my brothers are much older tho she got the when she was 20-25 something idk
sometimes it makes me sad that i know my mom won't be alive anymore when i'm 40+
or i mean of course she can live like 100 years old but i doubt, because she was a smoker for 20+ years of her life and she has pretty much wrong image of what's good food for heart health. i'm also pretty sure she's already showing early signs of alzheimer yieks... on the other hand she loves sports and she's very fit?

It's more normal to settle down in 30-36.
Ppl my age 23-28 don't have a boyfriend/girlfriend yet and then you want to rlly get to know the partner before starting a family. Don't see the issue.

My bf will be 35 this year and don't feel like rushing starting a fam' before i get a stable job or income.

i feel like her cancer diagnosis plays a big part in it for me like otherwise i wouldnt rlly think about it maybe? bbut i def notice that im like    stressed about it bc u dont know when it gets bad again
N in my head at some point it just turned into sth like   if u were born 10 years earlier u'd not have 2 think abt that when ur were like   a 10 year old child bbut instead when ur 20 n   an adult u kno idk

ppl in my family also generally dont become older than 75
n the past year like 4 people under 55 have died in the family idk lol its all on my mind a lot, that prob made it worse too

i feel like if someone deals w a condition they cn sorta decide that for themselves? like if it makes their life worse or if they don't feel that way

people can have health issues and be very inactive at any age, my mum can't walk more than a mile and spends most of the time watching tv and she was only 28 when she got me
