So I got into the visiting student program of Columbia University, which is an Ivy League school in NYC. However, due to Covid I can't go to NY this semester. I now have to decide wether I want to complete uni in Amsterdam or in NY. If I want to finish in Amsterdam I'll have to take a few electives and I'll be done in March or April. If I want to finish in NY and still go to Columbia I would be going next fall. This means that I'll have to wait another year until I'm graduated, and I won't be able to go to school the upcoming semester which would mean I'd have nothing to do from January until September 2021. Also, there is no guarantee that Covid will be gone next September so if I decide to defer and I still can't go I have to finish school in Amsterdam anyway. However, Columbia is an Ivy League school so it would look incredible on my CV. Ugh I'm just torn sad

That's true! But staying home could be good if I want to get like a job at the cinema or something so I can save for school, hopefully that would be possible otherwise I have nothing to do hahaha

Sadly not hahaha I wanted to move to London to find a job there but with Covid i'm afraid that won't work out either hahaha

I did apply for UCL too, which is an even better school in London but they haven't gotten back to me yet. I had to send them the courses I wanted to do and I never heard back lmao big sad

Because I'm allergic to pretentious shit I nearly throwed up visiting universities in Oxford being like ah oh uh we have our own rowing thing (definitely more pretentious than that but allergy) and everyone in my class was there like :0 while I stood there like fucking capitalist pigs honestly you should all be punished for breathing you utter scum, the audacity to fool around being rich wankers having fun and spending ridiculous amounts on things while your working class peers work their ass of so you don't have to lift a finger doing anything of value or productivity in your entire life, your life is just constant fun and I am against it. 

Ignoring all that, if you think it will look good on your resume being at an ivy league school you should wait as long as you can fill the extra time with something else, more studying, charity.. whatever people do

I mean, it's not like everyone going to those schools are super rich and pretentious. I've visited Columbia last time I was in NY and haven't met one person who acted like that. But I'm sorry if that was your experience!

New York is amazing! I absolutely love it there and would LOVE to go back so I totally get you haha! And Amsterdam is fun, but then again I don't even live there so I'm like stuck in my small town life hahaha
