Both snow and water bring a lot of danger to driving your car. If you're planning on going somewhere by car these days there's a chance you'll get to experience slipping, aquaplaning or sliding. I followed a course which teaches you what to do in such situations. I've shared this on the Dutch server before, but also felt like it might be a good thing to share it on this server too! The most important thing to do when your car starts to slide is to remain calm. Do not abruptly try to steer your car into whatever direction. Try to NOT hit the brakes. Your tyres are made to do one thing at the time, so if you hit the brakes while trying to steer your car in the right direction it won't work. Important is to always look in the direction you want to GO to, not where you DON'T want to go to. Often you see cars hitting trees or whatever, this is often caused by the driver looking at the obstacles they want to avoid. So make sure to always look at the road and not the obstacles on the side of the road. Do you feel that your car is starting to spin? DO hit the brakes, at this point the most importing thing is to bring your car to a stop.

Would like to add that when sliding the best thing to do since brakes are a big nono is just let up on the gas. Always helps me regain control just by doing that. Pushing on the gas can be what causes people to spin.
