i spent new years at a friends parents house a couple years back too, i'd met her mom like a few times before and i had a really good time with them. hopefully you'll have a good time too and it won't be too awkward for any of you!!

i guess being in closed quarters with only a handful of people of whom you only know a half of may feel awkward for a lot of people. it feels like the amount of people indicates an intimate event whereas the fact you don't know the people hosting creates a conflict you know?
