Even the fucking Wikipedia page mentions the etymology of the term lol 
It's still odd that there's intersectionality with race and sexuality, I don't even really like the word because it aids in fetishizing race.

white leabians wouldn’t let black lesbians use butch and femme so they had to make their own words
and now white lesbians are claiming those words as well? It’s really disrespectful.
