Anxiety bc of pets

!!! Is it just me or what
We’re buying our own place in a month and we’re planning to buy a piglet as a pet.
I’m SUPER excited to finally get a little piggie, cause I’ve dreamt of it for a long time B U T
I’m so anxious because??? how?? am I supposed??? to?? take care of an animal?!? And like, just the thought of being responsible for someones life?? how do you live with that??? Isn’t it scary as heck?!

Does anyone relate and if so, how did you get rid of that anxiety 🗿

i think after a while you get used to it? Cause when i got my cat i was up all night cause i was so paranoid he would chew on cords etcetc and like worried that i was fucking up to the point where i couldn't focus on everything else but now that he's older i dont think about it as much n were just vibin'

That’s kinda awesome that you’d have a piglet live in your house with you. Would you have anywhere outside for it when it gets older or for if it becomes too obnoxious??

get educated about the animal before it gets there. make sure you have the money and things to take proper care of it. all the things it needs if it gets sick, what you can do to prevent anything. make a routine for exercise, feeding, and fun. otherwise, welcome this miracle into your life despite the anxiety. It's such a precious gift to have a pet in your life even if they are fragile. But trust your routines.

I still can't get over the fact that I have a bunny. I still look at him and can't believe I have it, so weird it is, such a smol blessing and i am responsible for it. wild. I fussed over my bunny 24\7 when we first got him and it's fine like... you need to learn and bond with the animal first and when you get to know each other better, you find more trust in what you are doing and how your animal is liking it.

obviously, pet-proof the rooms it will stay in. Sockets, wires, poisonous plants, sharp stuff. and probably don't introduce it to everything at the start. let it be safe in a smaller space first so it knows here safe home is and then let it discover new places as it grows and at its own phase?

always, do what's best for your pig and not yourself. so learn its behavior. like when it is scared - what are the signs, when it wants to be alone - what are the signs, what sounds does it make - what do they mean. yeah, simply educate yourself on it first so you can respect your pigs boundaries from day one.

for extra credit, look up what to do if your animal chokes so you know if it happens. not to make you worry about it but first aid is a good thing to know how to do on your pet.

Its normal. Its similar to how new parents feel when expecting their first child tbh if u think abt it lol
u should have seen my dad when we got a cat, he literally bought a bunch of books abt cats and did all this research abt everything related to cats even tho i already had cats before while living with my mom lmao it was so wholesome he was acting like he was preparing for his first child

probably pretty normal, i have many pets but i still get that feeling, but most of the time i actually feel good rather than scared of being responsible for their lives cuz i think of it this way; they could have gone to a horrible home and to owners who wouldnt care for them but instead they're here and happy and healthy !! especially my hamster bc if u know how badly some people treat their hamsters.... so maybe u can think that way too and im sure you'll worry less about it once u have ur piggy...and btw about that a piglet like to ur house?! sounds cool

Those were some great tips, thank u! :,)
I think that’s what I’m mostly anxious for - how can I understand it and communicate with it, learning their behavior seems like the hardest thing to do, it’s a goddamn pig how do I chat it up ya know hahaha
