An idea about makeup - for environment sake

Ok, I don't use make up personally and I actually own zero make up myself, so I am sorry if I am to inexperienced and unknowledgeable to answer this question. But I want to bring it out anyway.

I got inspired by the idea that kitchen paper nowadays have smaller paper bits so you dont have to use that much paper every time you want to dry something with paper - so that we save up paper. I think that was a really good idea.

So I thought about palette makeup. Usually you get a whole palette with many different eyeshadows. And even tho I dont use eyeshadows myself, I can guess that often you don't use up that palette because you dont like every eyeshadow color that is in there. So my idea is pretty simple, instead of selling whole palettes on eyeshadow, why not just sell eyeshadow colors individually so people can choose whatever color fits them? In that way you can save up a lot of ingredients for eyeshadows.

Anybody that has more ideas about how you can be more environmental friendly?

Zao and Elate does that. Would take a look at zero waste makeup brands as they would fit what you're describing.

They already do that but one color is still like 10 bucks

That's a thing already, it's just much more expensive than it is, to buy a large palette and maybe use 25 out of the 30 shades it has.

I personally only buy palettes if I know I'll use more 3/4 of the shades or more, though when I was first starting out with drag and generally more intense everyday makeup I'd buy a new palette if I loved one or two of the shades, and that's a shame I think. Not to mention a total waste of both money and product.

I feel like the reason we as consumers do purchase the new palettes, liners, lashes, etc. Even though we have plenty at home, is because of the beauty influencers/ marketing, new products are constantly pushed on us "normal" people, by these beauty gurus we "adore". Don't really have a solution lol, you just need to educate yourself and spend your money wisely. <3
