am i the only one who thinks it's strange that ppl get hysterectomies just because they don't want kids and don't like having a period
i'm not talking about people who have a lot of pain or other medical issues because of their uterus. but people who are like well i'm not using it and i want to get rid of it
like..... you're literally removing an organ from your body.. just because it's inconvenient and you don't like it. it's a surgery which always comes with risks and a (total) hysterectomy will cause instant menopause since your body can't produce estrogen anymore. so you have to take meds for the rest of your life i think? hysterectomies can also cause incontinence and vaginal prolapse, and they increase your chance of osteoporosis... it just baffles me how doctors will even agree to remove ppl's uteruses without like a medical need for it?
