In my school there has started a big argument wether or not it's okay for women to state that they absolute hate all men due to toxic masculinity.
While I am not offended by this statement, as I don't see myself as part of toxic masculinity, I still don't think stating that does any good. It certainly won't bring any change, if anything it will be counterproductive. I do believe if we (yes we, I consider myself as a feminist even though I am in fact a cis man) want any change, we do need to be more strategic about it. Additionally, I've been hugely affected by toxic masculinity by being told I am not manly enough. It has taken me a long time to come to terms with the fact that I do not have to fall into any stereotypes in order to be able to call myself a man. Because of that the statement of "I hate all men" does in fact bother me slightly, because it puts that mindset in question again (but as said, I am able to overlook it).
How do you feel about this? Also, please stay respectful.
