Poll: Should I study to become a practical nurse?
Should I study to become a practical nurse?

I've been thinking about it quite a bit, and in that line of work I'd get to help people every day I work. Money is not an issue in terms of studying and I could later study more to become a nurse. If there's anyone here who knows a practical nurse or is one, I'd appreciate some insight.

It just means that it's the first studying level of nursing. After that you can study more to specialize and stuff.

My only unqualified thought is why would you go into nursing during a pandemic but yeah it's unqualified for a reason. bump.

Good point. But there's a need for more nurses in my country.

I think a lot of young women become nurses because it seems like a "next logical step," to find work and make money, and they aren't really passionate about it.
but if you really think you'd enjoy it, I say go for it - it's stable work forever.

And to clarify I am not shitting on nursing students at all
its just super common in the southern rural USA where I live, for women to go to nursing and men to go into the military because they've never explored who they are or what they want out of life.
if you truly think you'd love it, it's a great choice.
I see so many folks working in healthcare who clearly hate their jobs, and take it out on patients after years of becoming jaded and miserable.

I'm curious now: Is military actually a career option? What do they do?

all kinds of stuff, I'm probably not the best source of information on that tho because I'm super biased.
the US keeps folks poor on purpose so they'll join the military and it's disgusting.

where do you live? how are the work conditions for practical nurses there? it's not worth it in finland imo because they're overworked to death and it drives so many ppl to burnout but maybe it's different where you live

I actually live in Finland. The working conditions aren't great, as I understand it, but at least it should be easy to find a job in that field.

Do you want your job to encompass your life?
Would you be happy that way? Is it a life you want to live?
