but to make it short. barbers used to do more than cutting hair, they performed surgery and dentistry. also bloodletting, a treatmeant for many common illnesses at that time, which got prohibited during the middle ages. but barbers were still allowed to practise this procedure. and therefore they came up with the sign red for symbolising the blood, blue for the veins and white for the bandagesĀ
