actually well made & enjoyable movies?

i wish i could find more movies that are actually thought through and feel like a cohesive ensemble of scenes that create a powerful storyline, preferably with strong casting and visual side too. please recommend anything that fits the bill!

i watched the accountant last night and i really enjoyed the fight scenes bc they were very well choreographed, rehearsed, filmed and cut. i usually dislike shooting/fight scenes in newer movies because they are like .2 second clips and feel super disorganised. another thing that made the shooting scenes feel more realistic  was that the sound of gunshots were actually loud.
i also enjoyed the visual capture of the main characters stimming and how he started messing up his routines when he was upset, imo it was an unexpectedly accurate description of how some peoples brain work.

another movie i liked was the intern, i thought it captured the essence of some characters from pretty  different places in life pretty well. it was maybe a bit too ~polished~ to my taste but still aesthetically pleasing and v heartfelt. i also really liked the ending because it wasn't trying to establish some Powerful Feminist Energy but felt like.....how people actually handle crisis (or don't).

oh boy do i have movies for you @hutsu

some emotionally strong ones:
children of men (literally my all time favorite dystopia, god just watch this)
the florida project (really beautiful little indie film about poverty)
mommy dir. xavier dolan (a movie about a kid with aggression problems and extreme adhd)

A++ plot:
parasite (um so u have to have seen this one, commentary on class consciousness / poverty)
planet of the apes

some real fun ones:
baby driver (really good action / heist movie)
the man from UNCLE (fucking hilarious)

scifi:
inception (everyone and their mother has seen this one so if you haven't, go watch it)

animated (really give these anime a try if u don't watch anime):
akira (A++ visuals)
ghost in the shell

action:
battle royale (literally a genre defining movie, kinda gory but with real soul)
seven samurai (reallly old movie but stands the test of time)

horror:
get out (satirical movie on racism)
alien (legendary horror movie)

thank you so much!!! i've seen a few of these but most of them either are on my mental list or i've never heard of them. i really appreciate giving the short descriptions rather than only listing the titles too.

i don't think i have a specific genre i like the most or anything, i can appreciate different pieces for really different things. my favourite movie to show to other people (if they haven't seen it) is probably donnie darko because i've noticed that it usually resonates with everyone on some level for some reason.
i feel like the comic book black hole by charles burns has captured the same vibe that donnie darko has in some parts, and i just learned that there's a movie adaptation of it but i kinda dread watching it because it might be terrible. the first bad movie adaptation of a good book that comes to mind is savages (2012), have you seen it and what's your take on it?

i liked baby driver so much that like 4 of my alters wanted to watch it separately and everyone in my family and my boyfriend back then got really sick of watching the movie..... i like repeating the same things in general and i often get stuck in watching a series or a movie so it's sometimes great to ask for others to give some recommendations, it just tends to take some time for me to actually get to watching them lol

i have heard of donnie darko but ive never seen it! a book i enjoyed (the goldfinch) was adapted to a movie but it was very lackluster. the book was a bildungsroman and those sorts of stories rarely translate to good movies bc half of the story is in the thoughts.

i also found baby driver also to be really great, esp because i didn't expect it to be so fun.
