I'm convinced it's nerve related which no one seems to listen to.
I was cutting hot peppers for canning, and (duh) the capsaicin burned my hands, but the burning lasted for NINE SOLID HOURS until I started hallucinating, and fell asleep. My friend, who is a street medic at protests, even came over and treated my skin how she would someone who'd been pepper sprayed or tear gassed, and said she'd never seen anyone have pain linger like that, that it was impossible for there to still be capsaicin on my skin, and that my brain/nerves must be miscommunicating.
