If it's fresh and not healing properly I would try the whole tyrosur thing or other local antibiotics. Changing the jewelry may make it worse if it's really fresh, but if you are allergic it is better to remove it sooner than later.Ā 
I'm no piercer or anything tho but it shouldn't hurt days or longer after getting it.Ā
