and now the collection company  views it as joint debt because i didn't realise to contact the company renting to us before the bill went into the collection company's systems. now i can't get my name taken out and if he doesn't pay i have to or i'll lose my credit rating as well. how's everyone else doing on this fine monday?

the flat is empty and he's taken a bunch of my valuables instead. or tbh most of the things he took aren't much more when talking about monetary value but my things are important to me. probably a lot of things he took he didn't remember being mine/didn't think twice, but it still sucks and he won't sort my stuff apart from his personally and i'm honestly scared to go to his place since he's grabbed/pushed me a couple times in the last two weeks or so.

i'm sure i'll find a way to set this right if i'm willing to put in the time and effort, but i'm probably getting some cash back from the social insurance institute and might be able to wing the 200-300€. i won't ever see the money again if i pay it but honestly it might just be worth getting him out of my life.

This will sound stupid but have you tried touting to his parents - usually they have a good influence on people no matter what the age

also the police for stealing your stuff

i don't really know about anything like this but i'll look it up! my friend referred a consumer protection union's rental information (trying to translate roughly but i'm probably missing some words), i'll call them tomorrow and see if there's a way to draw my name out from the whole thing at this point.

i'm contemplating contacting his parents for sure, but he still has lots of my things and i don't want to piss him off wherever i can dodge that. i also don't want to take this to the cops yet, i will if it gets more complicated though. but he just reported me to the cops and made false accusations to the emergency services about me and i don't want this to become a bigger mess than it has to be. i just want out.

really sucks though, i could spend the money on some 2nd hand furniture for my new flat  and necessities. but obviously maintaining my credit is a lot more important than having furniture right away.

if you end up having to pay it, collection companies are usually v willing to negotiate and give you a payment plan if you can't pay the whole amount at once. if you're in finland anything you can do to avoid losing your credit is worth it imo
