yea i think parents, at least mothers keep convincing themselves that theyre acting in their childs best interest when their reasoning is literally that they wanted to live a life without having to tend to their childs needs, like fine its a free world, butu should at least stop pretending that youre doing it for anyone but yourself

I think in some ways yes its only for self interest, but in some ways, doesn't it make sense to rationalize it as u wouldn't b a good parent anyway if u only think abt urself, therefore kid better off if u leave, win win thinking
