i made a timeline for 1st therapy appointment

and i'm kinda proud of it, it's an exercise/tool they use a lot in psychiatry, social work etc. the idea is to jot down the important things that have happened during your lifetime and sort them out in a chronological order so that it's easy to have an overview of everything without talking through everything. i spent hours on it, coloured in sections based on these themes: trauma, showing symptoms, breakthrough/getting help and general info. i'd share a pic (slightly blurred so u can't read it sorry) but i forgot my charger again.

honestly i think everyone should do this!! i got some help from my mum, she helped me put everything in correct order (like what schools i was in, when did i get treatment x etc) but you can definitely do it without getting all those details in too

when i did this exercise it helped me like actually realize i hadnt failed as much in my life as i thought i had and i had actually had more good things happen in my life than i had realized. i think youre right that everyone should do this its a very useful tool.

that's so cool!! and like even though mine was kinda depressing i could see through all the symptoms and horrible things that have happened to me that there were only a few short periods of time where i have let go and stopped trying to get better and go towards my goals, and that feels very powerful to me. i'd honestly recommend this for any- and everyone !

the therapist who suggested thsi excercise said to do it again in a few years too and see what you end up doing differently that this is an ecxercise thats good to repeat

i drew mine like it looks like a line graph like assinged each event to like how good or bad it was and visualized ups and downs in my life but theres a lot of ways to do it
