i ran a diagnostic test on it and it said it was the hard drive which was expected considering it's a 9 year old mechanic hdd and they tend to break within the first five years... and i've been using the laptop for several hour every day since i got it in 2013
a hard drive is luckily replacable and i'm upgrading it to an SSD so it'll run faster and last another while
