how to find ~balance~ (TW food, weight etc)

so... i had my birthday a couple weeks ago and used the money i got from my grandparents to get myself a nice bathroom scale since i left my old scale with my ex a year ago and i really like having one

now, last year i spent a few months working five days a week at KFC - meaning i ate KFC five times a week, too, since the wages aren't good enough to be declining free food, if you get what i mean. obviously, eating KFC five times a week for four or so months does things to your body - you get heavier and your overall health gets at least a bit worse
now couple that with me getting a new bf and moving in together... which obviously means eating a lot of pizza, other junk food, snacks, drinking beer etc way too often at least for a while

ANYWAY, stepped on the scale and had only gained about 3 or so kgs since i weighed myself last time a year ago - pleasant surprise! decided to lose said 3 kgs plus maybe 2 more, but most of all to get into a healthier lifestyle, you know, exercising, eating well, avoiding excessive alcohol consumption and so on and so forth

said and done! i've been walking around 8-10 kilometers a day, quit drinking and not had any junk food in eh, i think... ten days now? i've started eating more protein, switched out about half the starch i consumed before for proper greens etc.. also started doing some proper workouts, like for my arms, abs and butt. lost a kilo so far and about an inch around my waist.

THE PROBLEM? this is now all i can think of. i wake up in the morning and if i don't start work til the afternoon or if i have a day off, i have a cup of coffee and then go for a 5,5km walk before i tidy up around the apartment and have my breakfast. then i work out some and do whatever needs done on that specific day before having lunch. if i'm starting work in the afternoon, i make sure to go for another walk before i start. if not, i'll have a walk in the evening. and all i think about is food. i keep imagining and thinking about what to have for breakfast tomorrow? what will i have for lunch? what about dinner? i look for recipes, i look for good workouts on youtube... ALL. DAY. LONG. unless of course i'm at work.

so my question is - how on earth do i find some sort of balance in this? thinking about food and exercise all day long is, well, boring.

really annoyed with myself because this literally happens every time i try and do something healthy
sure, i manage to lose weight and build muscle + improving my overall health and then sort of maintaining it BUT it's always at the cost of being 100% obsessed and consumed with it

hmm well    those are some really nice healthy habits, maybe just incorporate more stuff that is purely fun?  like playing games, reading, hanging out etc
so food and exercise isnt the only thing you are looking forward to

i know! next thing will probably be cutting down on tobacco... that shit is NOT healthy lol
yeah,,, still really can't hang out with people due to covid and restrictions + i moved towns and would now have to take the train in order to see my friends which doesn't feel like the right thing to do considering i work in health care so that's a bit boring
haven't seen my best friend in legit 8 or so months and it SUCKS

i'll try and find some hobbies, i think

I do that too but I find it fun to plan/think abt what to eat etc, I don't see a problem since it seems like healthy habits nonetheless, except if ur unable to focus on anything else

it is fun, but i don't think that thinking about food 24/7 is good in the long run eh

This was me when I started my workout journey three years ago. It became an obsession as soon as I started seing results, and all I could think of was eating right and working out.
Trust me, this faze will pass, and that's when the real work begin.
When you reach your first downfall, the day you just don't want to take that jog, when you don't wanna go to the gym, and you really want that takeaway junkfood, that's the worst challenge to overcome on your way to a new lifestyle.
As soon as you overcome that, and manage to pull trough those hard days, that's when you'll find the good balance between a healthy lifestyle and living a normal life. When workout feels like a natural part of the day just like you brush your teeth,, and when eating healthy just mean eating.
I think this is a common issue, when you get that sudden burst og doing something and you just feel totally obsessed, but like I said, this will pass, and that's when you'll have to put In the real work. So its nothing you'll have to worry about, at least not at the moment, but of course if this continuous you might have to look into it.
