Moving out

IM HOPING to move out soon, my two friends and I are searching for flats rn.

Do you have any advice/ experiences about moving out for the first time? What are some things that are essential but you forget, the easiest way to pack, etc.

Well I moved alone so my experiences wouldn't apply to whatever you intend on doing honestly

I mean, packing up your stuff, buying new furniture and etc would still apply?

Hmmm... I didn't think it was a problem honestly because I had planned moving out for about 4 years before I did because plan plan plan. Obviously it's expensive to move so you will likely not have everything you want in the start

plan who buys what
and honestly, i preffered getting my own furniture instead of splitting the cost cause that makes it so much easier when u move out again - u know whats urs instead of having to decide who gets to keep what and potentially buying the other ppl out lol

I don't have any experience yet but I've gotten some really good advice but I'm not sure that will be helpful really or if this advice is more of a "no shit" type of thing.

mm this sounds smart in this case yeah, don't split the cost on things, own things yourself

one advice that is very no shit: pick things you like the aesthetic of, it is important that you feel at home in your living space and if you're minimalistic that's fine, i'm not so it was a mental struggle to not have any decor or anything it was depressing and ruined my mood.

Once you've moved, make sure to have a bit of extra space. Leave some shelves etc empty. So the flat won't get too messy in the future

Was planning on going thrifting / looking at various online marketplaces!

I'm using one of the shelves of my cupboard just to store empty energy drink cans/soda bottles/etc so I don't have to look at them lol

I have a few basics already, some kitchen utensils, blenders, knives, pots, etc.
It's just the whole "packing down my room" that seems... so unbearable mentally.

That's pretty smart, actually.

I can't wait to create my own space, that's one of the things I'm super excited about!

i didn't do that because yeah most of what i have there is trash i didn't need because i didn't really have things other than my moomin mug collections and clothes before i moved out. aside from things i had collected over the four years like a frying pan, a casserole, kitchen utensils, etc. as you said you had but also a duvet, pillow, bed sheets etc. basically i had to buy everything when i moved
i've lived alone since autumn 2018 so it's been a while and i certainly didn't have everything and i still don't, but i'm closer to it lol
