Anyone gay here? If so, any tips on coming out to parents? Been trying for days but I can't seem to find the right moment, I just wanna vaguely mention it, like, I don't wanna sit them down and be like "Hi, I have to tell you something"

idk if "the right moment" really exists tbh
i ended up just telling when i finaly managed to start talking during dinner

or my first comming out to my mom was answering a joke about me bringing home a girl.. n i was like ye, that could happen so hahah

Urm.. I’m lucky to have pretty supporting parents.. they kinda knew I was queer before coming out, they often hinted at it before I told them, but I didn’t pick up on it (thank you Autism) but looking back, I wasn’t  as subtle as I thought I was.

I was panicking a few weeks before I told them, I wanted to do it carefully but I couldn’t find the right moment or time.. so I said fuck it and just walked downstairs one morning, said “mum, dad.. I’m queer, I like women” then ran back upstairs and hid in my room. My parents came into my room, laughing.. telling me that they knew already and I didn’t have fo be so worried and upset.

I thought it was going to go bad, but it didn’t.. just go for it.. it might not turn out as you think it would

just do it

there's not necessarily any good way to do it
some parents are much more understanding while others will never "forgive" you

i think i told them about my lgbt journey through discussions about trans and gay people who had recently come up in news or a tv show or something
despite everything tho they still seem to think i'm a cisfemale lesbian - for some reason they're more accepting of wlw while being extremely homophobic towards mlm, and i guess that plays a part in it. they only think there's straight (aka "normal" ) and gay, men and women, and have extremely traditional, sexist beliefs

i'm not as offended as i used to be about it as they still love and help me, but some lgbt people have it way worse i'm afraid. it probably helps to pay attention to what their opinion on these subjects are without tagging yourself into it head on

Yea same I dont wanna necessarily say I'm gay, just that I have a gf which means I am gay... But I kinda don't wanna walk in with her in case for some reason they would feel uncomfortable and she'd be uncomfortable, I just have to mention "hey yea I have a gf" idk how to tho, I guess imma just try tomorrow

how 'bout just mentioning that "hey guys i'd really like you to meet my girlfriend, she'll be coming over tomorrow(, is that okay for you?)"
