A need to be the best

Wanting to get ahead

Basing your worth on accomplishments, achievements and success

A need for power, control or superiority

For me, if I lose, I'm worthless, im a failure I am stupid, I suck

If I win, I wonder if it was an accident, pity on the judges part, if I cheated or there was an error somehow, or I thi k about how I could do even better next time if I feel I truly did deserve the victory (which I often dont)

I played soccer for forever, and was fairly neutral to winning and loosing. I just loved playing the most, but it didn't mean it didn't matter at all. Being competive meant doing my best even when I was tired, and seeing that what I learned at practice are good, and working. It meant growing as a player over each season bc i had the motivation to work for it and so on.

Also, winning the duels on the place on the field that is your best is a big self confidence boost. But alas I was never very competitive. I wouldn't cry if we lost. It wasn't optimal but it was what it was. If I had fun that was much more important. If we won, then yay great for us.

This is such a healthy way to look at things!

I think it's always best to do something because it fulfills or betters you in some way or brings you joy. Striving to improve is always good, but you shouldn't base your worth on your achievements either or you'll have a bad time.

Enjoy things for what they are for their own sake. Learn and grow and develop for sure, but don't go in it with the goal of being perfect. That's been my mistake.

it feels fine, idk. sometimes i feel happy for the person that won, sometimes i'm just like ok well the game is over so this part is whatever bc i was just playing to have fun

only time i feel bad is when i feel like i truly did very badly at something i thought i was good at. like the first time i played scrabble after taking a benzo was not fun
