I planted a huge garden thinking I'd be unemployed all summer, then got a temp job on a farm and didn't really have time to tend to my garden the way I'd have liked - but it's still been super productive! and surprisingly, not too overrun with bugs.
I planted tomatoes, peppers, tomatillos, ground cherry, herbs, asparagus, garlic, onions, sweet potatoes, potatoes, beans, lovage, cutting celery, cucumbers, cucamelons

I love my garden

I did some experiments the past two years, planting things really close together
and I think next year I'll have a better system.
I find my plants do really well planted close, but I think I planted the wrong plants close.

like I did peppers and sweet potato vines together, and next year I'll probably do the sweet potatoes with something taller, like corn

I grew peas earlier in the year, all my pea seeds have gotten mixed up so I get snap, garden, and snow peas all together and its a total mess. I think I'm gonna broadcast all the remaining seeds as a cover crop this fall.

That sounds great

Me n my dad planted so much stuff this year, unfortunately tomatoes, bellpepper, and kohlrabi did not work out like I wished they would because it's been raining so much, same with potatoes, but the rest (different kinds of beans, peas, different kinds of salad, beetroot, cabbage, cornichons, pumpkins, herbs, onions, savoy, carrots, spinach, radishes, porree) are doing good - great this year.

I never seem to be able to grow kohlrabi either, it always just is leaves and no bulbs. All brassicas are really hard to grow where I live.

Mine get quite big but they end up being unedible because they are so stringy (well at least the chickens still eat it)

I want chickens so bad, but I don't think I'm well enough to care for them yet.
Maybe someday haha

My parents have 20 + 5 baby chickens at the moment and they are quite a handful. I'm the main person taking care of them for the last 2 years and it takes around 1hr every day to prepare food, clean their bowls,....  That+occasionally clear the dung out, check for illnesses,  vaccine for the new ones,...

If you only use chicken feed that time is cut down significantly ofc.
