it does have an exfoliant in it but it's the 7th ingredient and I couldn't find the ph to see if it's low enough to be effective. generally cleansers aren't on your skin long enough for chemical exfoliants to work so you may just have dry flaky skin and the cleanser is washing it off. by face mask do you mean a clay mask or a sheet mask?

I mean homemade oat face mask. 

And if it's relevant: the exfoliator I have is from the same brand. Just blueberry.

Exfoliating is deeper, it removes more and makes your skin and skin texture more smooth
