I just got a call from my physical therapy office saying that I've made no improvement and if I don't show improvement in the next four weeks they have to tell insurance it's not helping and insurance won't approve it anymore sad
which means neck surgery sooner than later sad

I'm 27 I don't want hardware in my neck sad

have you ever had surgery?

they won't approve physical therapy if they can't prove it's helping
which I guess makes sense

They usually do it on folks who are much older.
Basically my condition is super common, but not under like, 60 years old lol

I really don't know.
They told me the surgery is "a when, not an if" and that's all the information I got
they want to give me injections in my spine for pain to help put surgery off longer, but I don't really know if I want to start getting them yet

Sounds like a scary thing in your neck honestly, is it a bigger surgery? any risks or anything?

i mean imo, it sounds like doing the surgery sooner is better cause A. the younger u r, the better u heal B. injections in ur spine are also kinda sketch C. pain meds themselves aren't that great for you, especially regularly.  but that does sound very rough! i hope you feel better and the therapy works so u can avoid this all

no, i've never had surgery, but when i was little and broke my arm, it didn't set right and i had to go into hospital so they could re-break it and set it better (i was unconscious when they did)

I reckon anything that close to my spinal cord has some risks
I think right now they think the risk of surgery is greater than the risk of waiting
if the condition gets bad enough it could paralyze me but I'd have much more obvious and severe symptoms before something like that happens

So it's like potato potato, just weighting the things as long as you can. I honestly get why you would wanna wait a bit with taking the choice! I would for sure look into details on what the risks actually are and such first!

luckily not even tho i've broke literally every bone possible, but none of them needed surgery
i would be so scared of anaesthesia,,,

but "funny" story when i was like 11-12 yo i tried to take my earring off but i couldn't
and i went to my mom like wwwaaaahhhh my earring has grown inside my ear
my mom was like the fuck you talk about, but then she looked my ear like well shit it is
so we went to hospital and they had to cut it out
everybody there was like how's that even possible lmaoo
