once upon a time there was a young boy, on the edge of adulthood. it was time for him to figure out what he wanted to do for a living. oh how his father wanted him to be watchmaker and how he practically forced him to go that way. but the young boy had a passion, and he stood his ground. he wanted to be a blacksmith, and so, against his parents will, he left home to pursue his dream.
he started an apprenticeship at a very kind blacksmith, who let him stay on his farm with his wife and six children. now one of the blacksmiths children caught the eye of the boy. a beautiful girl with brown hair and green eyes, just five years younger than him and full of life.
one day his clogs were missing. when he looked around, he found the green eyed girl, laughing and with his clogs high up in the air. he ran towards her, and as she started running away, it was obvious to anyone, that she was hoping he would catch her. and so he did. in that moment they fell in love.
five years later they got married and just next week, with their beloved children and grandchildren, they are celebrating 60 years of marriage. and i so happen to be amongst them.
its crazy to think that if my grandfather had done what his parents wanted him to and not gone his own way, he would not have met my grandmother and i would not have been here today.
so this is me telling you to listen to your heart and follow your dreams, dont care about what other people want you to do, if you go your own way you will end up on the right path.
