Account deleted

Everyone always talk about how different social media platforms and websites affect them after a certain period of time, like vp or facebook or instagram or twitter, are people just too inherently fragile for the internet or

No? The internet is the collected voices of a ton of people and it brings out the worst in them. Idk about you, but having the worst things happening in the world blasted into your brain 24/7 might not be the healthiest thing for the human psyche.

no, that's a normal emotional response.

Can't blame people for having way to high standards for themselves, when what they are feed often is polished to perfection. Besides what sylvan said about bad news, blasted into your brain 24/7, seems* about right.

thisss, but also just the amount of information in general we get everyday from social media, news, internet etc is not very good for us. our brain is literally not developed to handle this much information daily

So basically people kind of ARE fragile because they get so easily influenced by what they consume. Not speaking on this as if I weren't part of it as well btw lol

the algorithms are also rigged towards a post that creates outrage (twitter, at least).

Yeah just heard that about Facebook as well, they probably put a lot of effort into designing it to cause emotional damages for the sake of profit

yes. i don't understand why ppl don't just limit their use if they can tell a website is affecting them negatively. like it's your choice what kinda content you consume. ppl act like they're just helpless and forced to take in everything that happens on every social media

but actually fun when you mention this topic because I just went through my youtube recommendations, took a step back, and realized there was no video I really cared for. Mindless overconsumption here I am, ready to watch more deadass content that doesn't fulfill my needs because I am "bored."

also all of the above, of course.

depends on your definition of fragile. Isn't fragile one of those relative terms that lose their meaning if everyone has that attribute?

It's human nature to be influenced by others, always was, always will be.

Yeah it is human nature but I personally think this could be a fragile trait people have, I guess the ideal would be to not be as easily influenced but naturally that can't be changed so quickly so the way people feel about the internet remains reasonable

Fair, although I think even those who are aware they have a choice still get enticed by the internet nonetheless, whether it is negative or positive for them. It progressively gets more built to trap people in because it's good money
