That's great in theory but will people actually do that? Like, I would but I also bring reusable bags everywhere and keep the bags I do end up using to use again t least once more so like, not the average consumer in that sense. 
It's a gift, so the person giving it might be the kind of person to reuse it but the person getting it might not be and then it's even more wasteful than regular wrapping paper, eh?

not necessarily. if you keep it in the family or give it to someone who you know will use it next year probably then it's not wasteful.
