harm reduction vs enabling

do you think harm reduction, when it comes to drugs, is enabling? harm reduction includes things like providing users/addicts with clean needles, maintenance drugs like suboxone or methadone, Narcan (a medication used to treat opioid overdose), or safe spaces to use.

the idea is that people will use drugs no matter what, so by doing these things we can reduce the harm that comes with using drugs. however, some people feel that it's just enabling drug abuse. what do you think?

no bc they will do it anyways so might as well be safe

I guess it adds risks, some people might not have done drugs if not for the clean needles, but others would have done it anyways and get infected

we also have a testlab which tests ur drugs for free even if theyre illegal and u wont get arrested

i don't think it's enabling i think it's the only helpful/rational thing to do.

Although it does make it safer, it is enabling. You're literally providing them tools to do it

No, I see it as a safety measure when the bottomline is that they will use regardless of which tools they posess. The goal doesn't seem to be making them stop either so.. Providing safe spaces and tools seems to me the better option than letting them use dirty ones, etc.
