ACTUAL controversial opinions

because i want to start 2022 off on the right foot

1. all porn work is rape, because there's no such thing as consensual labor

2. no, i do not support hijabs, and i don't think they're a choice or feminist

3. same with religion, it's not a choice. if we want to peacefully coexist with organized religion it needs to be radically reformed. the very principle of teaching people that non-believers go to hell is unacceptable to me

4. most weight loss transformations/challenges are about aesthetic goals, not health

5. yes, you do wear makeup for other people. yes you do dress for other people. but that's okay!

6. i believe in the horseshoe theory unironically

7. no i do not support all women. women can be just as much mysogynists and perpetrators of the problem as men. just look at how women treat fat women.

8. choice feminism has rotted an entire generation into thinking their beliefs, thoughts, desires etc. exist in a vacuum (no it does not)

9. i don't agree with ACAB

10. all war movies are pro-war regardless of intent. and Yes, that includes grave of the fireflies!

11. there are only two genders. neogenders are not the progressive ideas y'all think it is. by inventing more genders you are only reaffirming the gender binary's existence, therefore reinforcing the problem you want to solve.

12. yes i do believe u need to be either same-sex attracted and/or transgender to be part of lgbt. no, i don't think asexuals, agenders, neogenders, etc. are lgbt.

happy new year!

if 10 includes grave of the fireflies, does it also include real civilian survivors' /victims' stories? documentaries? does it include anything that has to do with holocaust and movies that are specifically purposefully anti war

does it also mean that bringing up war in any art, discussion or media is inherently pro-war with no exceptions

no im not talking about documentaries , although it really depends on the documentary. informational ones like the bbc styled ones? they are fine. however, there are many media that combine documentary and drama (dramedies) which are more grey

it really really depends on what falls under that "art", but i'd honestly say, yes

while i dont agree with all of these, i can at least understand why someone would think that way. but 10? what on earth does that mean? who watches something like grave of the fireflies and thinks "hmm we should kill more children actually"??

the idea of all movies being pro-war is that

1. most audiences are pro-war. apocalypse now is an "anti-war" movie, yet it uses soundtrack like ride of the valkyries under an invasion of the country. it is often glamorized and sensationalized by military people

2. grave of the fireflies is a movie that paints innocent victims and a nameless and faceless enemy. it very much evokes the sensation of "look at how evil these enemies are! bombing innocent people!". under the right circumstances that is very effective war propaganda

3. just because a movie portrays gruesome depictions of battle doesn't make it antiwar. the very reason most people go to war is not bc they think it's rosy colored, but precisely because of the romantisation of suffering and heroic sacrifice. exactly the same reason terorrists commit crimes.

4. the thought of being immortalized in film is also a possible drive

do depictions of other problems in the world also count? is a movie about something like alcoholism also always promoting alcoholism?

i def think series like euphoria or skins have glamorized drugs and eating disorders even though they try to be cautionary tales yes!
