It's everywhere on tumblr, had to unfollow 6 people already

I just don't care about them, all the characters look so unlikable in the gifs and the aestethic screams tiktok

never watched either tbh, but I hate the way Euphoria glamorize drug use and addictions, parties, mental illness in a highschool setting.

Rubs me the wrong way bc Im literally the age the characters SHOULD be in the show n i know all too well its not all fun haha party LMFAOOO
idk I just HATEEE Euphoria, like yeah go ahead and show some of the most easily influenced people slow motion montages of 17-18 year olds partying and being high asf that make it seem so glamorous LOL (dont know like anything about riverdale besides theres like jughead n those guys kinda)

do they glamorize drug use
the whole show is literally abt how mentally unstable, physically ill, mean, angry and unlikable the main character becomes the more she spirals into her addiction theres nothing glamorous abt it

ye it might be it, same for me so havent actually been able to watch beyond first season. but ive seen a lot of clips on yt, and heard stuff from ppl i know. i think its a weird mix of things, like there a lot thats not glamorizing, but very real life stuff.

from what ive seen/heard, its not too far fetched from mine, and a lot of other peoples, experience of high school. only problem i personally see is tha, while it may be honest and raw, its coming from an adult pov. its a series for teens, but i feel its majory for those 17-24 year olds. at that point, youre already kinda up and going brain-wise

but if i were to be 14-15 and watched euphoria, i wouldnt be focusing on the bad parts. and i think its easy to forget how young people view things so much differently than young aduls/adults. id be eating that shit up like a freaking sponge at 14-15.

but its also not their(the creators) fault that 14-15 year olds might take this show and make it to something else ya know? theyre delivering a message, and its up for us on how to deal with it.

and yea it is very triggering, like love it but i could never sit 40-60 minutes watching all that.

Idk I really kinda doubt a tv show is gonna influence ppl to do drugs

If u wanna party ur gonna, it just is what it is

Also euphoria is not the first show to showcase young ppl partying

It's my view that you connect with things that you relate to

Again only seen a bit of euphoria and I'm too old for it, but this kind of argument reminds me of blaming emo culture on the rise of self harm and suicide

I wore black and listened to depressing shit b/c it resonated with how I felt, why would I listen to happy things I couldn't relate to

yes I agree! I can admit Ive seen one of the clips where Rue is breaking down outside of the im assuming drug dealers house and that made me ache for her cant even lie. Yeah and it also should be marketed towards a more mature demographic because younger people probably do focus on completely different things, also understand n honestly agree with your emo culture statement, like its trueee.

Idk I was only like 14 when I watched effy trip balls in the woods so

Again idk the show well enough to say if its glamorizing drugs or not.... I'd agree that 13 reasons why glamorizes mental illness tho and portrays it in a way makes a mockery out of it

But from what I've seen of euphoria it seems like a good outlet for teens who are going through heavy stuff. Idk I read the virgin suicides and watched requiem 4 a dream at 15 I dont think teens are too young for shows about drugs... also plenty of kids under 17 are experimenting with em, you'd be surprised

ive never watched euphoria and i dont rlly plan on it
just like ive never watched shows like riverdale or 13rw

shows like that just feel .. very weird to me . i mean ive heard euphoria has graphic n accurate depictions of addiction and drug use and it feels rlly weird that a show like that is being marketed to younger teenagers bc i know i as a young teen wouldve seen that and gone "wow! older teenagers wearing cool clothes and doing drugs ! i want to be like that!" rather than "this is a show abt how harmful addiction is and how spiraling can ruin relationships"

then again i was severely mentally ill and undiagnosed as a young teen so that could just b me

13rw explains itself and riverdale .. i dunno
im not a fan of the whole "grown adults put on makeup to look like and play teenage characters" thing bc it seems like most tv shows like that r either glorifying the worst shit or just like .. Not sending the message they want to send in the right way

take all of this with a grain of salt bc its based solely on excerpts from people who have watched the shows and my opinions on their takes lmao

My main reasoning for wanting to take drugs is I knew authority figures were lying about them to fear monger, and well I had friends who did why not it's a bonding experience. Also rebellion/curiosity.

Idk I cant wrap my head around wanting to drugs just cuz of a show, other factors are definitely at play, it's more multifaceted than that

Also have yall heard of the movie 13 or just... watched a non Christian teen drama stuff like this isnt new. I applaud Euphoria for taking a realistic take at least

Tell me WHERE they glamorize drug use, please. The addicts in the show are shown to be manipulative, toxic, unstable and etc.
