well probably the same reason you have heard from mt everest? it's well known place and very popular for mountain hiking. nothing weird about that, but also yeah you have probably heard of highest mountains in other areas too, you just can't remember everything

no i- i actually looked through this old book, (thats the reason of the unlocked memory) and it showed like atleast 30 of the worlds highest mountains by region, and i havent heard of any of them exept mt everest (because its the worlds highest mountain) and kilimanjaro buuut like why do i know that one - it is weird

hmm but yeah i guess i Could see the reason that its popular for hiking?

because you heard about popular tourist attraction places every now and then if you just interact with other people or cosume any kind of entrainment like movies books series etc?  same than asking why you have probably heard of grand canyon or niagara falls 
there's nothing deeper in that

K2 right, I only know mount everest, k2 and kilimajaro, but the other ones aren't as popular cus they are not fit for climbing I think (me saying that like mount everest is fit for climbing but honestly,,,)
