I know you want to. Here are some questions, but I'll probably just share other random bookish things here too.

Tell me which releases you are excited for this year?
Tell me if you have any fave accounts to follow for bookish content on any platform?
Tell me what makes you love reading?
Tell me what you're currently reading?
What genres and demographics appeal to you?
And which do not?
Share a quote from a book that resonated with you?
Share a fanmade song for a book that you love?
Share your favorite book-to-screen adaption?Ā
If you could get an ARC (early copy) of any book, which would you pick\have picked?
Show me the most beautiful book cover you know?
Show me one of your favorite fanart\official art?
Which is a book that haunts you?Ā
What a book you which you wish you have read but likely never will?
When was the last time you cover bought a book?
Have you read all the books on your shelf? If not: 50%, 70%, 90%?
What is your preferred format?
What's your favorite poem?
A book you wish to read in the future?

Kaikeyi by Vaishnavi Patel (releasing in April)
Intersectional Environmentalists by Leah Thomas (releasing in March)

A quote that resonated with me:

A fanmade song I love:

My favorite book-to-screen adaption:
The Hunger Games, Divergent (only nr. 1), and Beautiful Creatures.Ā

90%+

Preferred format:

Physical or audiobooks (depends on circumstances)

I also love this song. Fairly sure it is made for the A Court of Thorns and Roses series.

We all know this book is going to be a cover buy first and foremost b\c it got Charlie Bowater coverart. Also, it has like all my fave elements too. I'm weak for blond-haired characters and nature themes.

this is a lot of questions haha..... i won't be able to answer them all

im looking forward to donna tartt releasing something soon. she usually writes 1 book every decade, and she's overdue for her next book. i love her writing style and atmospheric descriptions.

i'm also curious to read 'to paradise' by hanya yanagihara. her books are very hit or miss with audiences, and i admit i also didn't love a little life, but i did love the writing.

i still have to finish the kite runner... i've not really been reading lately bc of how busy i am but i should def make time to finish that book

it's hard to say what i like in a book. i'm def more of a character-driven person. a book with good characters, descriptive writing, and philosophical core will still have me enjoy it even if the plot is rather stringy. i had that with annihilation by jeff vandermeer. it's a great book. but it's also one of those books that are clearly written as an excuse to jam a philosophical standpoint down ur throat.
not that that isn't a good reason to write a book, most classics have that as its basis, with the plot being a mere excuse to drive the idea forward. but i do think a book that has more of a balance between idea and execution would take it from enjoyable to great.

i tend to like soft scifi, mystery, thriller. i love gyllian flynn, she's not afraid to write despicable female characters. writers that dare to go beyond archetypes and stereotypes. i tend to stay away from romance or YA dystopia. but i don't like to write off entire genres. im mostly willing to read everything if it's good. execution > idea

also thinking about maybe reading the percy jackson series since they're making a show out of it... i've been really into norse mythology lately. i also read manga and i've been reading vinland saga, which is also about vikings and stuff.

i tend to have the same tastes in movies as i do with books.. which isn't all that strange. but i like reading about ordinary people. and ambiguous / evil characters. although evil is probably the wrong word for it. but a very specific evil. not characters who go on a temper tantrum and kill people, or had a sob-story childhood and use that as an excuse to be bad. yea ofc those can be reasons but they shouldn't be the driving force. i liked will graham from hannibal.Ā

but what i find also weird about myself is, i like character driven stories, but i rarely find myself driven to really like or feel attached to a character. i don't think i have a favorite character either..

redemption arcs are also nice though.Ā

start when you have the space or maybe when you notice you keep telling yourself "no, next time" for the fourth time that day. some books just gotta ripen before you meet them at what feels like the right time and that's okay! : )Ā

I will compromise: audiobooks with good narrators is like watching a series\movie but with closed eyes, like when u r half napping beside something
