when some clothing stores have like a permanent "40% sale" when those are actually just their normal prices and the sale never ends

Man I was thinking about this today, ultimate guitar always has an 80% off sale, it's really off-putting.
But yeah it's not legal here, there was a law banning that a while back but maybe it is other places? Though there is a shoe site here that always has like 20% off so maybe there's an online loophole or something I don't know.

i think my sister once said it’s not legal since it’s false advertising and kinda of a scam but idk man

I don't think so

i guess if the products themselves already have that sale price printed on (like they fr just print it on the packaging, no need for the workers to place a reduced price sticker on it) it is allowed

i feel like what they do is make sure its on sale like 95% of the time but mayb 5% of the time the price is like SLIGHTLY higher n theres no 'sale' signs

so like if u have something on sale for a month n then for 1 day u raise the price lol n then the next day u can put it back on sale for the next month

but i dunno

i think it would count as false advertising if there was proof that the price before the "sale" was the same
i read abt electric appliance stores doing that on like black friday sales

Yeah, they change the price before the sale so its more expensive, and then change the price down again to the original price so its on "sale"

We have one furniture store like that, though they have gotten some fines because of it.
