to be fair, 89% of it is also finding glasses that suit you
the fashion industry when it comes to glasses is just as stupid as when it comes to clothes pretending that there are some sort of clothes that magically will look fantastic on everyone
such things don't exist
either you're lucky and are able to get glasses during a trend period that suits your face and general style, or you're fucked and have to agree with glasses that are maybe ok, but not the best fit they could possibly be

they could have wider ones in the back, i always have to have some from the back bc my nose bridge is too skinny for normal glasses apparently

yeah, I amount that to trend and what kinds of glasses the people try to sell in general
I used to have the same issue
like, I have a big head and a small face (my whole face just has a lot of empty space around it, like big front, big chin, wide cheeks and all)
so I need something that helps balancing it out
bigger frames help for me, because they help in hiding the vast emptiness that my face generally is

also, in no small part is unfamiliarity the reason why many people dislike glasses or getting new ones
you're very much used to how you look and when looking into a mirror or seeing yourself in a picturek, that's how you see yourself (barring any kinds of dysmorphia for this)
when you try on different looking glasses, you might for a few seconds look like a complete stranger to yourself until you're able to recognise your own face and the longer that takes, the more you're prone to disliking the glasses and being against them just because you don't recognise yourself
the same goes for clothes. I know someone who has been wearing solely black for 10 years now and is convinced that every colour looks shit on them. it doesn't, they are just not used to seeing themselves in anything but black and thus the view of colour on themselves feels alienating

yea, like i can see a slight shrinking when i look at my cheekbones from a certain angle but its not large nough to notice with the eyes on their own when seen straight ahead

I feel like that's mostly curvature as well? (a slight fishbowl effect) like I have glasses that minimise the shrinking effect and have like 5,75 or so on one eye and my eyes don't look noticably smaller when seen from the front
