worth it? discuss

no but fr idk, idk if its better to get a so fucking expensive membership, or saving up to buying some second hand work out equipment at home

like pros and cons obviously

home pros: comfort, can do whenever, no other ppl
cons: need the motivation which isnt gotten at home, less opportunities for varied form of exercise

gym pros: all the equipment already is there, benefits that come with a membership, human benefit of company and motivation
cons: expensive, must buy workout clothes (refuse to work out in pajamas around ppl)

idk what there is to discuss, if you want to workout in a gym then do it if you don't then don't

okay so i have a gym membership but also stuff at home, so here's my experience

gym: makes me more motivated to keep going and not give up bc people are watching lol. and there is so much more machines and equipment at the gym so you could try new stuff and don't get bored. ALSO my gym has different lessons, like dance, body pump, yoga and so on which i LOVE

home: sure it's nice when you don't feel like leaving home but it's so much more easier for me to give up and me like "meh". but if you have the motivation it could work great for you

if ur not working out at home or doing exercising in general you will not stick to it in the gym
gym memberships are marketed through selling you the idea of motivation but it will not give you that

start working out at home, use you body weight follow programs, and when you've seen results and you want to tone up by using weights then you can get a gym membership
because i promise you, you will not stick to it and there's no such thing as 0-100

or i mean if you feel like paying the price is motivational to you and you like to work out at the gym, then yea it's worth it?

normally id say yea but one of my largest drawbacks in life is motivation/follow through, its honestly easier to do it the other way around by establishing good habits outside of the home i have already established bad habits in, and then moving those habits into the home afterwards

ofc this doesnt always work out so it depends. its not like i started polishing my own tables after i started doing it elsewhere dljkfhksdg

yea but u do realize that getting to the gym will require you putting on your clothes, walking there or taking a bus there which is additional time, you will also need to go wether its raining, snowing or whatever and if you're already prone to bad habits that will just be another excuse not to go

so in my opinion, if you cannot do it at home you will not do it at the gym either but in the end if you wanna buy a membership and learn for yourself then you can do that too

i currently don't have a gym membership because of covid but had one before. For me it was worth it since there was everything i wanted to use and at home i obviously don't, so i currently can't do the weight training i would want to sad. When i feel comfortable i'll start going to gym again since it offered me the things i needed for the kind of working out i wanted to do. I guess you can always go and try it out for a while to see if it's your thing and fits your needs

yea but thats fine, *not* going out to the gym in bad weather isnt a pre-existing habit i have to break. i already go out every day for my daily walk, i wouldnt even have to change what direction im walking in to end up at the gym

if i could choose i would choose the enviroment of a gym, but for me personally there are more cons of a public gym such as prying eyes, other people as well as the hindrance of going outside
so enviromentally wise, gym will always be more efficient and nicer but the privacy of ones home is a pro which i cannot overlook

oh yes agreed! prying eyes and such really sucks, that's why i'm trying to go when there is not much people there. there sure is negative sides of the gym to ofc!
