but didn't you have to be rich, or at least, cared for by a wealthy person to be able to create at all back then?
like, supplies were not cheap or readily available

so perhaps that $$$ and privilege was the culprit lol

yeah, like as you look at art throughout history u generally see it improve, partially from learning new techniques, better accesability, and ability to share knowledge! And people who are doing abstract art are often trying out new things if not expressing something??Ā  i think it's nice, and i dont think a painting needs to be a technical masterpiece to be good, thts a boring mindset to me
