Like he's clearly not doing so well with life is unfair, step siblings don't get all the same things (on good and bad). Tbh tho like wonders if he has like legit worries about working and the extr load od things and ofc it is intimidating the first time! or if it's like lazyness and lack of personal hygiene. One could be supported by the fam, the other is like... Make him grow up and into it. 

Anyways, you're not the one forcing him to get a job even if he uses you as the argument. You're literally his only leverage like "x isn't so why should I?" very typical siblings in my experience. Let the argument happen between ur parents and him and just take ur chill.
