i hate that i have a kind of fire alarm i can't take off myself, because it has gone on many times when i make food  and i'm not the only one, i hear my neighbours' firealarms too every other day
i guess if there was an actual fire someday we all would just die because nobody would know its real this time

are those the serial connected kind?? ive always wondered how those work
like firealarms often go off when ppl cook bc were a species of terrible cooks, do they have to go off for so so long before the others are triggered or something??

i have those ugly battery ones u screw in and out, i hate them i hate buying betteries for them bc i never have those wide square batteries at home bc i lit only use them for the fire alarms

i also dont understand how the firealarms dont run out of power at the same time!!!!! i have two

(i wish i had 3. theres one in the bedroom and one in the kitchen but none in the livingroom, so i always leave the livingroom into kitchen door open which yes bad for firespreading but i just dont trust the smoke detector to detect in time if the door is closed bc the ceiling is so fucking high in here like its a metre and a half above the door frame and it can fit a lot of smoke up there before itd leak into the kitchen from height alone and i know that nonsense to some degree bc smoke detectoras are MEANT to do this its not like i can visibly see much of the smoke that triggers the alarm that time i forgot to wash the spilled chicken grease out of the oven before i started cooking lasagna for an hour but)

and i change their batteries at the same time! same amount of batteries! all new! but there are weeks sometimes MONTHS between when they need a change

i don't know how those works? but okay ye i assume that probably something happens if they just keeps peeping for a long time
but they are pretty senstive, which is like good because they work yes, but seriously making food is what it is. tho these are small aparments and at least i don't have a kitchen hood so i assume other aparments doesn't have them either, so there's no proper ventilation unless you open windows

I always think about how it’ll be impossible to grab my cat in case there’s an actual fire cause whenever mine goes if he’s like wtf is that and scurries under the bed :’)

Ig they run out of battery cause they’re always on analyzing the air or smth idk? But like wouldn’t it also work i they turned on when smoke gets to them??? Idk I’m no fire alarm scientist, they probs work the way they do for a reason

conspiracy, serial connected alarms are a scam, big fire just wants landlord money

it is rly annoying when cooking keeps triggering fire alarms
i dont have many issues with it here (good, bc i have a shitty hood and no windows in the kitchen) but every time it happens its like. panic. annoyance. painfully loud

idk if this is helpful at all, but my great grandpas house burned mostly down like there was a husk of a house left it was charcoal the whole upper floor and the downstairs wasnt much better but the toe muncher made it out perfectly on her own, like she was gone for a few weeks (probably scared, and its not like she could just go be picked up when no one was there anymore) but she was found again by a neighbour, completely unharmed

so i guess for pets sake leave a window or door open but if u live in an apartment biuolding dont bc fire spreading? house owners can do whatever they want i guess, landlord privilege

my whole building is solid brick (and split in two) so im not the most upset abt having individual firealarms, like its thick brick the only wood here is the panelling on the floors but the ceiling underneath is also solid brick so its like. if a neighbour knocked saying hey theres a fire i could comfortably grab my most valuables i think if its in one of the apartments above or especially if its one of the ones in the other section of the building. if its somehow in the hallway below i have a sexy fire escape rope bolted to my bedroom floor

that said shouldnt it be legally required for apartments to have connected fire alarms tbh like id take an annoying but harmless scare one too many times rather than a missed fire alarm one too many times

how scary. i thought the house was gonna burn down once so i grabbed my cat, ran outside and threw her in the bush.  then i ran back in and got my purse and phone.
thank god only a mattress was burnt

wow we are days away from the 12 year anniversary of my great grandpas house burning down sldflsf i didnt even realise till i found the article

it always made me very sad like. yea ofc its sad but. all the kids spent their time there, they had swings and apple trees and those little wooden play houses in the yard and it kept the more distant parts of the family tree connected, like there are relatives i more or less havent seen since the house went down

great grandma died a couple of years before if i remember right, it was my second family death i believe? maybe third. i cant remember if she or my other great grandpa died first. her chair was still in the corner by the window when we visited the house before it got torn down. my grandpas sister and her son still lived on the second floor where the fire started i believe, i think it was the tv or playstation that caught?

great grandpa got a new (very gorgeous but without all the memories) house built on the lot that he lived in until he died a few years later. i think another extended member moved in upstairs in that one

im still going to move back home as fast as possible and i have some gravesites i havent seen in many years i need to visit
