So i went to my mom’s dad’s funeral today (I did not know him, my mom and aunt cut contact with him before I was born, I think he was abusive to my nan or smth so no condolences needed lol).
He was cremated so we were just planning on going out to the memorial, placing some flowers, and then having some coffe for the sake of my great aunt who was sad about her brother yanno. But no priest and no funeral event etc.
but apparently the guy had this girlfriend (or whatever you call an old persons partner who didn’t live with them lol). When we found out about him dying and about her she was all no you just clean his home, take what you want, I don’t want anything to do with the funeral. And wouldn’t even tell my mom anything about what he wanted for his funeral, like where he wanted to be buried, if he was religious, nothing (hence the cremation and no ceremony). She seemed hesitant to come at the funeral too, then she said she would come and bring her two sons.
and the today this lady shows up with her sons, and their wives, and their kids. All in like suits with roses ?????? And they were all “not even a ceremony” and we were all ??????? We didn’t know there would be this many people.
they left after we went out to the memorial lot and like we just knew they were prolly talking trash about us for not giving him a proper funeral but lmao if they wanted one they should have planned it.
that’s all I just wanted to share this very weird moment 😭😭😭 like imagine ur estranged dad dies and then his girlfriend gets mad because you didn’t plan a funeral for this Man U didn’t know, feel low key bad for my mom, but it was kinda funny
