Long story short, I'm an activist at an autonomous squat, we have very few ground rules which are as follows: No sexism, no racism, no violence, no homophobia and no hard drugs.
A few months back this group contacted us regarding hosting a techno event, we said yes seeing as we've been talking about having shows that aren't just hardcore punk and etc.
I was the contact person to this group, they've been super nice and generally welcoming. HOWEVER, they left out the No hard drugs rule, so I added it to their Facebook event, we invited them to a meeting bc we had a lot of questions regarding why they left out that specific rule, but had no issue in posting the other ones.
They apologised and we moved on, whatever. Now they've added a photo with their "rules" to the event which is generally nice and considerate stuff, however, they left out No hard drugs AGAIN!
I think this is super fucking suspicious, it seems fishy and it feels like they're leaving the rule out on purpose. I don't feel comfortable hosting this event anymore.
1. It's a techno event, and while I was actually planning a techno party before they came along, I also recognise that it's going to be difficult to keep drugs out of the techno scene.
2. They keep leaving out our ground rules, specifically probably the most crucial one in this scenario.
3. They wanted their own door team instead of having actual house activists be at the door, i.e making sure people aren't on drugs, which is also kind of suspicious seeing as they keep leaving out the rules.
Am I being paranoid?
