I read quite a few bc there was no decent literature in a subject I had to write a paper on and I think I read a thanks mum for proofreading but nothing else. 
Idk, people did that, thanking their supervisors and families and whatever, and I was just like, no thanks...

The most common thing is to thank those who has helped so the supervisor(s) and other academic people who has helped + others like family and friends

Me on my gymnasium work: 

i wanna thank bloomcissi for proofreading and my other istj friend for sitting with me to juggle ideas and my supervisor for not deadeyeing me for falling behind the plan and my isfj friend for also sitting with me and moral support bc we all know isfjs are the best moral supports and my infj friend for evoking some sense of stress in me so i could have gotten started and more
