Probably because he feels bad and wants to hide away through it. Is there any way you can drop in at a vet tonight? 
I don’t have a car so I have to take my moms boyfriends and my mom promised she’d go with me in the morning so not really sad he’s being kinda whiny now when I touch him too,,, but idk I did read that cats dislike it if you pet them close to the but or tummy when they have a stomach bug so I’m that case it might be that
