Well, personally I simply don't use the word in general -better to be on the safe side yeah?
Anyway, I have a vocabulary adequate enough to vocalize/express myself in more creative ways than such
I do have experiences w family members using the word tho, but with a more negative connotation, using it as a descriptive noun to identify who they talk about who just so happen to be a poc. They seem to have this urge for making a point out of it -every god damn time. And THAT makes me uncomfortable as a non-poc.. it makes me so uncomfortable I wanna cringe and gag cause I am embarrased by having to be associated w people who are imprinted with the "they are all just *insert random insult directed to poc*".
"Luckily enough", they mostly keep these verbal expressions in between themselves and within our household, although it's still so outdated and somewhat harmful.. it's sad to see how normalized it is in europe to just throw around this word, which obvi holds a heavy background.. europeans seem so ignorant when it comes to that word
luckily, we are slowly but surely getting educated on the topic, but the older generations seems to just have to take that with them, while we younger ones work as a distraction, fire distinguisher and hopeless educators who have to be mimndful not to walk in their steps while listening to those words repeatedly
"it's just a word"
to that, as a european non-poc myself, but an ally nonetheless, I wanna give you some perspective to reflect over
"it's just an abortion, you still have rights, what you talking about?"
