I research local tattoo studios, find their artists portfolios and see if their style matches up with what I have in mind.
and then what? do you contact them with an idea you have in mind and they design it for you and all is good?
my most recent one was for a short quote in my dads handwriting so it was super sentimental. I sent over an image of the text & we briefly discussed a rough size and price (as well as placement but I changed this on the day). Then I booked in for a few months later.
on the day she made up the template and let me add some other embellishments, we went over the spacing and discussed the thickness of lines, placement & size. the first template the placement was a bit off so I asked her to redo it so we were both happy.
it was all in all a really good experience and I felt listened too, comfortable and the outcome was exactly what I had wanted.
